The launch is part of MTN Uganda’s broader evolution from a telecommunications provider into a technology company offering digital solutions to customers.

MTN Uganda  has partnered with AfroMobile  to launch MTN TV by AfroMobile, a digital entertainment platform that brings live television, radio, movies, sports, news and on-demand content into a single platform.

The launch is part of MTN Uganda’s broader evolution from a telecommunications provider into a technology company offering digital solutions to customers.

Speaking at the launch, MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge said the platform is designed to respond to changing customer expectations for more than connectivity.

“Our customers expect more than connectivity. They want seamless access to entertainment, financial services, education and digital experiences that are relevant, convenient and accessible wherever they are.”

– Sylvia Mulinge, CEO, MTN Uganda

Mulinge also described MTN TV as a platform for opportunity, saying it will expand access to entertainment while creating new avenues for Ugandan broadcasters, filmmakers, musicians and digital content creators to reach wider audiences.

AfroMobile General Manager Kevin Kaija highlighted the role of the partnership in showcasing African stories through streaming technology and bringing creators closer to audiences.

Representing the Uganda Communications Commission, Director of Corporate Affairs Fred Otunnu stressed the importance of digital innovation, local content and partnerships in advancing Uganda’s digital transformation and strengthening the country’s digital economy.

The platform offers more than 60 live TV channels and 53 radio stations, alongside movies, sports, news and exclusive African content.

MTN Uganda said the platform will also provide opportunities for Uganda’s creative industry, with content creators expected to play a central role in shaping the future of entertainment on MTN TV.

The company said it plans to continue working with creators, broadcasters and other partners to build an inclusive digital entertainment ecosystem in Uganda.
