The agreements, witnessed by NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, are aimed at supporting Nigeria's digital transformation while expanding the country's technology ecosystem and global partnerships.

Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  has strengthened its international technology partnerships through the signing of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Canadian technology companies Goose FL and Fireflies AI  in Toronto, Canada.

The agreements, witnessed by NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, are aimed at supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation while expanding the country’s technology ecosystem and global partnerships.

The collaborations will focus on three key areas, including financial inclusion, with the partners expected to explore technology solutions that expand access to digital financial services and create economic opportunities for underserved communities.

Another priority is the development of local AI infrastructure and services. The partnerships are expected to support Nigeria’s capacity to build, manage and benefit from artificial intelligence technologies locally, strengthening the country’s emerging AI ecosystem.

The agreements will also support the development of Nigeria’s wider digital economy through technology transfer, innovation, international collaboration and digital capacity building.

NITDA said the partnerships will help strengthen local capabilities while connecting Nigeria’s technology ecosystem with global expertise. The agency expects the collaborations to create new opportunities for citizens and businesses and promote the practical application of emerging technologies.

The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s broader ambition to position technology, innovation and human capital development as drivers of economic growth, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of building a $1 trillion Nigerian economy by 2030.
