Hormuud Salaam Foundation (HSF),  the philanthropic arm of Hormuud Telecom Somalia, has donated and equipped an ICT laboratory at the Gaheyr campus of Somali National University, as part of efforts to expand access to digital learning in Somalia.

The facility was officially inaugurated by Somalia’s Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education, Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, alongside Somali National University President Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamed and HSF Chairman Abdullahi Nur Osman.

The laboratory features 34 computers, interactive touchscreen boards, speakers and other equipment designed to support ICT-based teaching and training. The facility is expected to improve learning and teaching processes while enabling greater interaction between students and lecturers.

Speaking at the inauguration, government and university officials commended Hormuud Salaam Foundation for its investment in education, highlighting the laboratory’s potential to support modern teaching and strengthen digital skills among Somali students.

Abdullahi Nur Osman said the initiative reflects HSF’s continued commitment to supporting education and expanding access to digital learning opportunities for young people in Somalia.
