The graduates were recognised at a ceremony held at the National ICT Innovation Hub after completing a hybrid learning programme covering information and communication technology (ICT), digital marketing, e-commerce, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

MTN Uganda  has graduated 503 young people under its MTN Ace digital skilling initiative, equipping participants with practical technology skills to support their participation in Uganda’s growing digital economy.

The graduates were recognised at a ceremony held at the National ICT Innovation Hub after completing a hybrid learning programme covering information and communication technology (ICT), digital marketing, e-commerce, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The programme is designed to go beyond certification by giving young people practical skills they can use to create business opportunities, develop innovative solutions and address challenges in their communities.

Speaking at the graduation, Dr. William Egaddu, Chairman of the MTN Uganda Foundation Board, stressed that connectivity alone is not sufficient to unlock the potential of young people. He said they also need the knowledge, confidence and skills to turn digital opportunities into value.

Egaddu also disclosed that MTN Uganda channelled UGX 5.1 billion through the MTN Foundation in 2025, positively impacting more than 60,000 people across Uganda.

The Chief Guest, Amos Mpungu, Principal IT Officer at Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, urged the graduates to apply their digital skills beyond obtaining certificates.

He challenged them to use their knowledge to develop ideas, businesses and innovations that can contribute to Uganda’s ambition of building a $500 billion economy by 2040.

With the addition of the 2026 cohort, the MTN Ace initiative has now empowered 1,191 young people with practical digital skills aimed at helping them create, innovate and participate more effectively in the digital economy.

MTN Uganda said the initiative reflects its commitment to investing in young people and supporting the development of a more inclusive digital future for the country.
