Zamtel has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth innovation and technology development in Zambia through its participation in the 2026 JETS and TETS Fair, currently taking place at the National Science Centre.
The fair is being held under the theme, “Promoting Innovation and Competence Development in STEM Education,” bringing together about 400 young innovators from all 10 provinces to showcase technologies, projects and ideas aimed at contributing to national development.
The event was officially launched by Guest of Honour Prof. Michelo Syakalima, who encouraged participating innovators to continue improving their solutions and use innovation to strengthen Zambia’s competitiveness.
Representing Zamtel’s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Technical Officer Mwiya Wamunyima reaffirmed the telecommunications company’s commitment to empowering young people through technology and connectivity.
Wamunyima urged young people to take an active role in developing technology and solving challenges, rather than remaining only consumers of digital solutions.
Zamtel said its support for the JETS and TETS Fair reflects its commitment to platforms that nurture young talent, promote STEM education and provide innovators with opportunities to develop solutions that can contribute to Zambia’s future.
The 2026 edition is being hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Directorate of the National Science Centre and has been described as the most attended JETS and TETS Fair to date.
