Fourie will serve as an alternate director until Macozoma’s retirement on July 20, 2027, after which she will be appointed as a full member of the Vodacom board.

Vodacom Group Limited  has appointed former Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) Chief Executive Officer Leila Fourie as an alternate director to the company’s chairman, Saki Macozoma, effective October 9, 2026.

Fourie will serve as an alternate director until Macozoma’s retirement on July 20, 2027, after which she will be appointed as a full member of the Vodacom board.

Fourie brings extensive experience across payments, investment banking, retail banking and capital markets. She served as CEO of the JSE from 2019 to 2026, having previously been CEO of the Australian Payments Network and held senior roles at Standard Bank Group, including Managing Director of its Card Division and Global Director of Credit Analytics and Portfolio Management.

During her career, Fourie has held senior executive and board positions across the UK, United States and Australia. She has also chaired or co-chaired several boards and organisations, including the UN Global Investors for Sustainable Development Alliance, Diners Club South Africa and the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges.

She currently serves as an independent non-executive director of Australian payments company Cuscal Limited and sits on the boards of the United Nations Global Compact, WWF South Africa and the Youth Employment Service (YES), among others. Fourie holds a Ph.D. in Economic and Financial Sciences from the University of Johannesburg.

Vodacom said its board conducted the required fit-and-proper assessment under the JSE Listings Requirements and was satisfied with the outcome. The company also confirmed that there were no positive statements to report regarding the integrity information contained in Fourie’s director declaration.

Effective October 9, Fourie will also join Vodacom’s Nomination Committee and Remuneration Committee. The Nomination Committee will be chaired by Macozoma, while the Remuneration Committee will be chaired by CB Thomson.
