The upgrade is aimed at responding to growing demand for reliable, secure and high-capacity digital services while strengthening the digital connectivity link between Tanzania and Burundi.

Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) , through the National ICT Broadband Backbone (NICTBB) , has strengthened its strategic partnership with Burundi Backbone System (BBS)  through an agreement to increase connectivity capacity to Burundi from 4Gbps to 10Gbps.

The upgrade is aimed at responding to growing demand for reliable, secure and high-capacity digital services while strengthening the digital connectivity link between Tanzania and Burundi.

According to TTCL, the increased capacity will provide a stronger foundation for cross-border digital services, enterprise connectivity and regional business growth. The expanded infrastructure is also expected to support businesses seeking to extend their digital operations across Tanzania and the wider East African market.

The partnership forms part of efforts to enhance regional digital infrastructure and improve connectivity capacity between East African markets.
