The intervention is being implemented through Airtel Nigeria’s School Adoption Programme, which is focused on improving the learning environment and providing schools with essential infrastructure and educational resources.

Nigeria’s Airtel Nigeria  has begun unveiling upgrades across 10 adopted schools in nine states, delivering improved learning facilities and digital tools to pupils and teachers.

The intervention is being implemented through Airtel Nigeria’s School Adoption Programme, which is focused on improving the learning environment and providing schools with essential infrastructure and educational resources.

Upgrades across the schools include freshly painted classrooms, new furniture and civil works, with some schools receiving newly constructed blocks from foundation to roofing. The programme has also provided toilet facilities, electricity, fans, water boreholes, whiteboards, writing materials and back-to-school materials for pupils.

A key component of the programme is the development of new information and communications technology (ICT) laboratories through a partnership between Airtel Nigeria and American Tower Corporation (ATC).

The newly built ICT labs are equipped with solar-powered inverters, CCTV cameras, laptops and 85-inch smart screens. The facilities are intended to give pupils access to digital tools and create opportunities for them to develop technology-related skills.

The initiative forms part of Airtel Africa’s broader social investment efforts, supported by the Airtel Africa Foundation, which focuses on areas including education, financial inclusion, environmental sustainability and digital inclusion.

Through the school adoption initiative and partnerships with organisations such as American Tower, Airtel Nigeria is expanding access to improved educational infrastructure and technology for schools across different parts of the country.
