Egypt Attracts FPT’s First African Investment as Technology Firm Expands Globally
The company plans to use Egypt as a base to serve clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, drawing on the country’s engineering talent and established technology services sector.
FPT, a Vietnam-headquartered global technology services company, has launched operations in Egypt with the opening of its New Cairo office, marking its first office in Africa. The company plans to use Egypt as a base to serve clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, drawing on the country’s engineering talent and established technology services sector.
Ahead of the office opening, Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) met with FPT executives at the agency’s headquarters in Smart Village to discuss the company’s expansion plans, demand for specialised technology talent and opportunities to grow its Egyptian workforce.
The expansion follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between ITIDA and FPT at the Global Offshoring Summit in Cairo in November 2025. The agreement established a framework to support FPT’s investment in Egypt and leverage local talent to deliver technology services to international clients.
Headquartered in Vietnam, FPT Corporation operates in more than 30 countries. The company reported revenue of $2.66 billion in FY2025 and has a workforce of more than 44,000 across its core businesses. It serves more than 1,100 clients worldwide, including over 130 Fortune Global 500 companies, across industries such as automotive, aviation, banking, manufacturing and healthcare.
Its technology services include software development, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and data solutions, embedded systems, semiconductor design and advanced engineering, including connected-car technologies and in-vehicle software.
“FPT’s entry into Egypt reflects the country’s growing role in the global technology services industry, where access to skilled engineering talent is increasingly important. Our focus is on attracting investments that go beyond scale, bringing more sophisticated technology work to Egypt, strengthening local capabilities and expanding the range of services delivered to international markets.”
– Ahmed Elzaher, CEO, ITIDA
Elzaher added that attracting more complex technology operations and developing specialised capabilities, including AI-enabled solutions, would help expand the range and value of services delivered from Egypt to regional and global markets.
FPT’s Egyptian operations began with a team of more than 60 local engineers providing software development, AI solutions, application support and other IT services. The team currently serves clients in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, using FPT’s global delivery network and experience across multiple industries. The company plans to expand into European markets, beginning with France.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Nguyen Nam Duong, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Egypt. Attendees included Mahmoud Sofrata, ITIDA’s Vice President for ICT Market Development; Yasser Abdel Bary, Head of ITIDA’s Electronics Industry Program; and FPT executives Phuong Dang, Senior Executive Vice President of FPT Software; Kenan Homsi, FPT Middle East Regional Vice President and Managing Director; Mustafa Ibrahim, FPT Middle East Head of Delivery; Thang Nguyen, FPT Egypt Chief Operating Officer; and Mohamed El-Saeed, FPT Egypt Country Head.
“With AI reshaping how technology is built and delivered, enterprises are seeking partners that can combine industry expertise, innovation and consistent execution at scale. Our expansion in Egypt brings FPT’s AI leadership closer to clients and partners across the region, enabling us to co-create value, foster deeper relationships, and drive sustainable growth.”
– Phuong Dang, Senior Executive Vice President, FPT Software
Mahmoud Sofrata said FPT’s investment builds on the complementary strengths of Egypt and Vietnam in technology and engineering. He highlighted the contribution of Egyptian talent to the company’s expansion and the opportunity to increase technology service exports from Egypt.
FPT’s AI ecosystem includes its FleziPT AI platform, AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, a global workforce of more than 30,000 AI-augmented engineers, and strategic partnerships with leading AI companies.
The expansion builds on Egypt’s position as a destination for offshoring and technology services. The country’s sector generated $5.2 billion in service exports in 2025, supported by international companies and skilled professionals delivering technology and business services to global markets.
